Rates and Insurance
Psychotherapy Rates
Psychotherapy rates are as follows: $150 for an initial one-hour intake session, and $140 for 50-minute sessions after that. If time permits, 90-minute sessions may be provided upon request, for a cost of $225 per session.
Insurance
I do not file insurance for clients. If however, you would like to file for reimbursement from your insurance company for out-of-network benefits, I am happy to furnish you with a “superbill” to send in to your company. In order to seek insurance benefits, you will have to be issued a mental health diagnosis. Please be advised that most insurance companies do not pay for couples’ or family therapy.
Coaching Rates:
Coaching is usually sold in packages of 4 sessions at a time for a total of $800 per package, paid in advance.
Why the Difference in Costs between Psychotherapy and Coaching?
First of all, I love doing both. The difference in the costs of the two modalities has only to do with difference in the amount of time I have to spend between sessions on preparation and assignments. Coaching usually involves the use of some of my assessment questionnaires. the setting of very specific short-term (and possibly longer-term) goals, the sharing of regular homework assignments, and my “concierge” availability for brief contacts/questions up to every-other day between sessions. Psychotherapy also starts with our clarifying wants/goals but is usually done with a looser time structure to allow for exploration of historic and current influences which may be affecting a client’s emotional or behavioral health. While I am available for emergency contacts between psychotherapy sessions, I do charge (at a half-hour rate of $70) for any conversation or Email that goes over 10 minutes. Both modalities may offer work toward specific change and/or ongoing support. Both psychotherapy and coaching end when the client feels the work is finished for the time being. Ultimately the choice is up to the client as to what is the best modality for your unique needs.
Payment
I accept payment by cash, check, credit card or HSA/Medical Savings Card. If you prefer to pay by card, I text you a link and can store your information HIPPA-compliant program, IVYPAY.
Cancellation Policy
I do charge for cancellation of appointments with less than 24-hours notice. The reason for this policy is that if have advance notice, I may have an opportunity to fill that slot and not lose my planned “salary” for that day.
